In what way should the USA reform its own voting system before preaching to others about democracy?

End the monarchy by not requiring a person to be extremely wealthy to run for office.

Adopt a proportional representation voting system. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proportional_representation.

runoff voting - require a majority for election to national office

Approval voting, in which electors simply check candidates they approve of.

I think the stupidest thing we could do would end the electoral college and adopt a proportional representation. If you knew anything about Sociology you would understand.
